Pyper se Boom is an informal campsite located within the Tankwa Karoo National Park of South Africa.

It is an isolated, self-sufficient campsite suitable for 4×4 vehicles, offering 360-degree views but no ablutions or water.

Tankwa Karoo National Park, located on the border of the Northern and Western Cape provinces, is one of South Africa’s most starkly beautiful and remote protected areas. Known for its vast, semi-desert landscape, the park features rugged mountains, rolling plains, and striking rock formations shaped by centuries of wind and sun. Despite its arid appearance, it supports unique biodiversity, including rare succulent species and birdlife such as the Burchell’s Courser. Once a sheep farm, the area has been restored to its natural state under SANParks. Its solitude, star-filled skies, and dramatic silence make it a haven for photographers and stargazers.
