Tracking elephants in the African bush activates all your senses.

It’s quite easy to compare a Big 5 walk with identifying business opportunities in Africa.

The big opportunities, like a six-tonne elephant shaking a giant Amarula tree 50 metres away, is impossible to miss. But finding the big elephants is not always where the real value of such an expedition lies.

It is when you take a breath and look around you that one really sees the smaller things that reveal how the system works.

True opportunity is rarely obvious

Listening for the call of the Honeyguide and following it to a beehive hidden in a massive Sycamore Fig. Or watching thousands of termites constructing an air-conditioned tower, in sync, working towards one goal.

These moments show real intelligence at work. Mostly unseen, but essential.

Africa works the same way.

True opportunity is rarely obvious.

It lives in informal networks, rural economies, supply gaps, logistics bottlenecks, and cultural nuance.

It is shaped by geography and embedded in community and traditional knowledge. You do not find these insights in boardrooms, reports, or spreadsheets. You find them by being on the ground and by being present.

You have to walk the terrain

You have to walk the terrain, talk to real people on the ground. Observe. Listen. Connect the dots.
